Vice President, Equities Operations Manager
Role Summary
Markit Equities is a critical data service combining an accurate source of equity index and ETF composition data from worldwide providers with global dividend and ex-date forecasts and has recently added the rapidly expanding Bespoke Index Management to its core products. The index team works globally from offices in London, NY and Singapore and provides data service and support to clients from any time zone.
Duties and Accountabilities
- Managing the day to day Singapore production of the dividend and indices services, including:
- Ensuring that all the production processes are frequently reviewed to guaranty that they are as efficient and practical as possible.
- Ensuring that quality and production standards remain as high as possible
- Specifying, testing and implementing new system developments, working closely with the Index production Manager and the Far East Dividend Manager
- Working closely with the head of customer services and his team to handle customer data queries and support
- Recruiting, managing, developing and encouraging the production team, working with HR when required.
- Improving productivity and scaling the business wherever possible by for example outsourcing, use of technology, acquisition of data and other measures.
- assisting the sales team in a client facing role when required
- Working with other business areas in Markit to maximize the group profit, particularly the Core data production team.
- Being an active member of the equities management team.

Business Competencies
- Education and experience – degree level or equivalent; should be qualified with a relevant and recent financial qualification.
- Management experience - The candidate will have experience of running a research and data management team providing transaction critical data within an investment bank or asset manager or similar. The candidate must be able to demonstrate proven success in having run an equivalent is experience might be running a similar department. The ability to lead and motivate an experienced team of analysts will be essential, and the success of this will be helped by showing the ability to handle data at least as well as the team, to solve problems and deliver solutions within the agreed time scale.
- Commercial awareness – the candidate will occasionally be required to go out with the sales team to visit customers and new prospects. Therefore the ability to engage with customers, and to understand the environment in which they work, will be very important.

- The candidate will be required to take full responsibility for the daily production and need the gravitas to lead his/her team and to earn the respect within his peer group in Markit.
- The candidate will need to demonstrate proven capability to clearly communicate his plan and requirements and to show appreciation for work well done.
- The candidate will be a member of the equities management team and will require to work very closely with other members of this team and other areas of Markit.
