Internships in Bond Valuations and Equity Indices

Role Summary

Grasp this opportunity to become an active member of our young international team, to take on responsibility as part of the team and to add your own decisive input as an on-the-job intern. You will be integrated into our task forces where you will assume responsibility for performing daily quality controls of all key bond indicators relating to the iBoxx indices.

As a fully-fledged member of the team, you will be involved in performing and adjusting the monthly index processes. In addition, you will help us to process client enquiries. You will, of course, be involved in new projects and will actively contribute your skills to the same. Duties and Accountabilities

  • Validate bond prices
  • Determination of terms and conditions for fixed income products and equities
  • Support the business as required, gaining an excellent understanding of how the department works.
  • Build effective and supportive relationships within the team and senior managers across the business
  • Benefit from a structured planning and review process to facilitate the success of the individual

Business Competencies

  • A minimum 2.1 degree in Business Economics, Business, Information Technology, Financial Mathematics or a similar field
  • Excellent A-Level results
  • Fluent in both written and spoken German
  • English is fluent enough for business
  • Specifically required for the Fixed Income – Bond Valuations role:
    • passed intermediate diploma (B.A., B.Sc.) or in the final year of study;
    • basic knowledge in financial mathematics
    • knowledge of financial markets
  • Specifically required for the Equity Indices role:
    • basic knowledge of different kinds of securities;
    • consolidated knowledge of stock evaluation
    • basic knowledge of SQL and Excel
  • Commercial Awareness: Ability to understand business objectives and focus and prioritize multiple projects accordingly

  • Self starting and highly motivated individual, looking to prove their abilities in a demanding, delivery oriented environment
  • A strong desire to learn
  • The candidate needs to be personable as they will be required to work closely with other members of this team and other areas of Markit.
  • The candidate need to be flexible and be prepared to work late if the business requires
  • The candidate needs to be proactive and hardworking
  • The ability to take early responsibility and communicate effectively with management
  • The ability to work effectively within a team
  • The role involves interfacing with numerous departments and teams and therefore good team work is essential.
